TechVision21 President and CEO Kelly Carnes to Join the Board

The company synonymous with snapshots in every family album, is now partnering with a consortium of thought leaders to promote a national discussion on innovation and economic growth.

Meeting next week in Rochester, New York, Board members and business leaders will announce the formation the Innovation and Material Sciences Institute (IMSI), a new initiative designed to focus on stimulating cooperative ventures to highlight innovation as an economic driver and to spark vital discussion in an increasingly competitive material sciences environment.

“I am delighted to be joining this consortium of cross-disciplinary thought leaders in science, business and education,” said Kelly Carnes, President and CEO of TechVision21. “Our country must remain at the forefront of innovation, and materials science is critically important to the future of every industry. The IMSI is an important model that can help bridge the gap between discovery and innovation, and help innovative firms successfully cross the valley of death. Even in a fragile economy, innovation paves the pathway to economic growth and job creation.”

IMSI will address the key roles of collaboration, comprehensive policy, and science in enhancing the climate of innovation as well as work to directly facilitate links between innovative start-ups and established businesses.

“The Institute is committed to providing the ideal learning environment for the future. We want to create a kind of giant water cooler to encourage discussions and collaboration at every level,”.

As a first step, Innovation and Material Sciences Institute will open the dialogue with a State of Innovation Summit at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY, December 7th, 2010.
