Ms. Balachandra will discuss The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act by outlining the following existing legal authorities in the • Energy Policy Act of 2005, the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, America COMPETES and Farm Energy.
The Recovery Act is the first comprehensive energy legislation in a decade and authorized $4B for hydrogen/fuel cell R&D, demonstra tions (over2006-2010) as well as large investments in biorefineries and new efforts in solar, wind, and biomass . The bill also established $3.4 billion over 10 years in tax incentives to encourage electricity production from wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal sources. The Obama Administration Agenda is calling for investing $150 billion over 10 years in energy R&D to promote energy efficiency in industry, buildings, appliances and will require 25% of electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
