TechVision21 Congratulates University of Maryland
2012 Hydrogen Student Design Winners
The U.S. Department of Energy has announced the University of Maryland as this year’s winner of the Hydrogen Student Design Contest. The announcement came at the Young Scientist Symposium, part of the World Hydrogen Energy Conference in Toronto, Canada.
The winning design will use organic and municipal solid water to provide electricity and heating for the campus as well as fuel 20 buses.
“These students are a great example of the innovative thinking the U.S. needs today to meet the growing demand of clean and green energy,” said Kelly Carnes, President and CEO of TechVision21. “They deserve the recognition and accolades usually reserved for rock stars.”
The winning student design will reduce emissions equivalent of taking 2,300 cars off the highway. The contest features student talent in many disciplines, including engineering, architecture, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
