Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker visited SEMATECH this week to see firsthand how the industrial consortium brings together competitors to advance the semiconductor industry.

The latest stop in her nationwide listening tour, the Secretary met with the leadership of SEMATECH and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering, and participated in a CEO Roundtable discussion.

Pritzker said she wanted to learn “their priorities, concerns and ideas on how the public and private sectors can work together to strengthen the economy and create American jobs”.

“I am delighted Secretary Pritzker had the opportunity to see SEMATECH’s unique capabilities,” said TechVision21 CEO Kelly Carnes. “It remains the model for public-private partnerships, and demonstrates how industry and the federal government can collaborate to improve U.S. competitiveness.”

Noting the Administration’s commitment to supporting American manufacturing, Secretary Prizker was particularly interested to learn how to build on and replicate this American success story.

TechVision21 applauds the Administration’s efforts to boost manufacturing, and the high-value jobs that come with it.
