Participants in White House Forum on Small Business Challenges to Commercializing Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology continues to be a transformative technology moving from the realm of science fiction to consumer products.

After fifteen years and a $20 billion investment by the federal government, the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI) will be taking on health and safety issues; for example-anticancer therapies designed to destroy malignant tumors leaving healthy cells untouched-and lighter, thinner body armor for the troops.

In recognition of the importance of nanotechnology R&D, representatives from companies, government agencies, colleges and universities, and non-profits are announcing a series of new and expanded public and private initiatives that complement the Administration’s efforts to accelerate the commercialization of nanotechnology and expand the nanotechnology workforce.
