Despite the severe cuts to R&D proposed in President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018—signed by the President on March 23 and funding government for the remainder of FY 2018—was far more generous than expected, providing some of the largest increases in R&D funding in years.
