Triangle Coalition’s 14th Annual STEM Education Conference: Sustaining STEM: Maintaining the Movement, Widening the Circle

This year’s program will examine the critical issues and solutions for sustaining the STEM education movement.

Carnes will address the path to ensure superiority across the full spectrum of defense missions through science and technology including: the development of Civilian and uniformed STEM personnel in R&D, operational missions, support, and operating state-of-the-art war fighting systems.

Currently the Department of Defense has

  • 15,000 different computer networks across 4,000 military installations
  • 7 million computers/telecommunications tools in 88 countries
  • Thousands of war fighting and support applications and a
  • Defense civilian STEM workforce of nearly 150,000

Her presentation will thoroughly outline the challenge and suggest strategies to off-set retiring personnel.
