and Marketing
Kathy Walsh is
an executive consultant on workforce performance, organization effectiveness,
education and marketing strategies in the new economy. She has 16
years executive and management experience in marketing, organization,
learning, and the effective use of technology.
Recently, Ms. Walsh led the strategic planning of an education business
for a Virginia television station.
She developed marketing materials for the US Chamber of Commerce,
a wealth management company, and a consulting corporation. She helped a .com education company's executives build a business
development strategy. For another organization, she reduced
technology expenditures by two thirds and improved operations. With
the owners of a new technology business, she addressed market opportunities
with large potential. In the past three years, she helped government
and education leaders around the world build plans for economic
development in the information economy
including Croatia, Singapore, three states in India, Australia,
Chile, Russia, Malaysia, Denmark, Taiwan, Canada and Mexico.
Previously, Ms. Walsh was the Education Strategy Executive for
the IBM Institute for Electronic Government. There, she led
research, strategy development and briefings on education, and workforce
skill building with technology. She also hosted monthly web cast
interviews with international leaders. Additionally, she managed
education public policy issues for IBM, created marketing strategies,
and supported top IBM executives in policy work. Earlier in
her career, Ms. Walsh ran organizations to develop IBM personnel,
offer database/networking education, provide organizational strategic
analysis, technology planning and marketing. She taught mathematics
at the University of Missouri, consulted with educators on technology
use, and advised educators, business leaders and policy makers on
education, organization, workforce and technology issues.
Ms.
Walsh is often requested to speak on education and workforce,
and to participate in key public policy task forces. She was
the keynote speaker on Tech-rich Work Skills for the
American Association of Community Colleges fall conference and
served as Special Advisor to the National Governors
Association and ASTD Commission on Technology and Adult Learning.
She participated in the Secretary of Education's Task Forces
on the future of secondary education and K-12. She provided
workforce and education technology briefings for
the Departments of Education, Labor, Agriculture, and Defense.
Ms. Walsh is a member of the ASTD Policy Committee, the
National Alliance of Business Policy Council, the advisory
to the Center for Work Force Excellence at the National Association
of Manufacturers, and the Fairfax County IT Policy Advisory
Council.
Ms. Walsh holds a Masters of Arts in Mathematics from the
University of Missouri,
and certificates in Marketing Planning from the University
of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business, and in Advanced Business Strategy from Harvard University.
