Bush Administration Releases Innovation Policy Statement:
A New Generation of American Innovation

After more than three years in office, the Bush Administration recently released its first formal innovation policy statement, A New Generation of American Innovation, emphasizing that “government must work to help create a new generation of American innovation and an atmosphere where innovation thrives.”

President Bush announced three specific measures to maintain American leadership in technology and innovation:

• Hydrogen Fuel Technology: A Cleaner and More Secure Energy Future
  
  
• Transforming Health Care: The President’s Health Information Technology Plan
  
  
• Broadband Technology: Promoting Innovation and Economic Security

All of these efforts are continuations of existing Administration initiatives to foster technological innovation and economic growth.

Included in the Administration’s innovation policy statement are previously announced initiatives to improve access to training and jobs for America ’s workforce.
