5.9.2007 Kelly Carnes to Keynote the NewVA Corridor Technology Council TechNite 8.0 Awards Dinner
Roanoke, VA - TechVision21 CEO, Kelly Carnes will give the keynote address for the TechNite awards dinner on May 10, 2007 in Roanoke, Virginia. This annual event draws nearly 300 business and academic leaders from around the state to highlight innovation and business development as well as K-12 academic achievement in math and science.
At the awards dinner, Ms. Carnes will outline how emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, alternative energy technologies and biotech are transforming the global competitive landscape, and the impact of these trends on regional economies and individual workers. She will also discuss the challenges and opportunities presented by this transformation, and outline her ideas for ensuring that the United States sustains its technological leadership and competitiveness in the 21st century.
The evening theme is Honoring Innovation and will include an opportunity for members to say farewell to outgoing Executive Director, Gordie Zeigler.
Ms. Carnes’ visit will also include a discussion with founding members of the Hollins University Leadership Institute, a tour of Virginia Tech’s Terascale Computing Facility and meetings with other business and university leaders. |
