TechVision21 Client Wins $1.8 million Economic Development Grant

On January 28, 2004 , at the Kettering University campus in Flint, Michigan, the U.S. Economic Development Administration awarded a $1.8 million federal grant to assist the university's new construction of The Center for Fuel Cell Systems and Powertrain Integration. U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development David A. Sampson and the Economic Development Administration (EDA) Regional Director C. Robert Sawyer attended the event to present the award. The Center for Fuel Cell Systems and Powertrain integration will be housed in the university's new C.S. Mott Engineering and Science building.

The Center will include four state-of-the-art fuel cell test stands and labs, office and research space for eight new businesses in its incubator, and will be run by a 200kw stationary fuel cell. These additions will allow the center to meet its goal of accelerating development and commercialization of fuel cells for stationary and mobile applications by providing a top-ranked fuel cell engineering education and technology leadership in R&D, testing and evaluation.

TechVision21 has been a key advisor to Kettering on the project.
