Greensboro North Carolina, NanoManufacturing Conference

The Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering in Greensboro, North Carolina will host a one day NanoManufacturing Conference on Wednesday, September 15, 2012.

The U.S. government is supporting advanced clean tech manufacturing by investing in the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation, (NNMI) a 14-agency Advanced Manufacturing Jobs and Innovation Accelerator.

“The face of manufacturing is changing as technology advances the process,” said Kelly Carnes, president and CEO of TechVision21, “and nanotechnology will be a driving force in the production process and well as the products made.  This process is being strengthened by the public-private partnerships that continue to invest in innovation and job creation.”

According to James Ryan, founding dean of the school, manufacturing still accounts for more than half of the private-sector R&D and 60 percent of U.S. exports.  In a little over two years, manufacturers have created nearly half a million jobs.

According to Vincent Caprio, Conference Chair and Executive Director of the NanoBusiness Commercialization Association, “Nanomanufacturing is driving the next wave of American greatness. Businesses that incorporate nanomanufacturing are poised to be atop that wave. This is a unique opportunity to be educated in regard to nanomanufacturing.
