USDA Rural Energy for America Program: $280 million available for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is making $280 million available for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in rural areas through its Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). The simultaneous release of the 2014 and 2015 REAP solicitations is the largest REAP funding notice in program history.

Grants up to $500,000 and loan guarantees up to $25 million are available. Agricultural producers and rural small businesses are eligible. Funds can be used to purchase and install renewable energy systems such as wind, solar, biomass, and geothermal systems, and for a range of energy efficiency projects.

REAP application deadlines are fast approaching. TechVision21 has a record of success in helping clients win large REAP grants and is here to assist you in your application.  Contact our experts today (202-966-6610) to get help in accessing these funds for your renewable energy or energy efficiency projects.

At VMI’s recent 26th Annual Environment Virginia Symposium, TechVision21 President and CEO Kelly Carnes highlighted REAP as a key source of funding for rural renewable energy projects such as:

  • Purchase/installation/construction of a bio-diesel plant
  • Installation of wind turbines for electricity generation
  • Installation of solar PV array for farm energy
  • Rural electric cooperative wind turbine and geothermal projects
  • Expansion of bio-diesel production capacity
  • Purchase/installation of anaerobic digester for generating electricity for sale to local utility

Kelly Carnes noted that “A recent overhaul of the REAP program makes it even more accessible to family farms and rural small businesses.”

REAP helps increase American energy independence by increasing the supply of renewable energy and decreasing the demand for energy through energy efficiency improvements. These investments also help lower the cost of energy for small businesses and agricultural producers.
